Young Family Documentary Photo Session {Portland, Oregon}

The Young Family, Glimpse in the Life Family Session

Meet the Young Family! These are some of my favorite people in the universe. Rhiannon and I met when we were about 10 years old when I invited her to sit with me during a math class. I don’t remember this, but she does. That’s why she’s the teacher and I’m the photographer.

I am so happy that I was able to photograph a Glimpse in the Life of their gorgeous family last autumn. I was able to freeze a very special time in their life for them to keep and cherish.

Time flies so fast and before you know it, there are 4 kids running around! At least that is the case for Rhiannon and Anthony. We carved out a Sunday from their busy life to spend the day at home together for their session. To them being at home means quality time, puzzles & games, hot chocolate, playing music, visiting their chickens and walking around their property. Basically an idyllic country life!

I already knew how much Rhiannon and Anthony love their kids and how amazing and wonderful all 4 kids are. But seeing it in person and making photographs of them was such an honor. I love their connection as a group and their individual connections with each other. Their slideshow still makes me cry every time I watch it. Seriously. Here are some of the highlights from our day together.

"I have been thinking a lot about this whole documentary photo process. Why do we spend so much money on a wedding photographer when there is a chance that it isn’t going to work out (the marriage)? Why not wait and do a family session that shows the love (that was there on the wedding day and hopefully is still there) and how it is shared with those they have created. What you are doing just makes so much more sense to me in the whole scheme of things." -RHIANNON
